On the occasion of Father’s Day 2025, the World Organization of Martial Arts (WOMA) pays tribute to our beloved founder, the late Grand Master Jack Stern, affectionately known around the world as Papasan.
Grand Master Stern passed away in 2012, but his legacy remains stronger than ever. As the visionary founder of WOMA in 1960, Papasan was not only a pioneer in the global martial arts community but also a true father figure to countless martial artists across generations and continents. His mission was to unify martial artists under the principles of honor, respect, discipline, and cultural understanding, regardless of style or origin.
For over five decades, Papasan dedicated his life to promoting the values of martial arts beyond the mat—emphasizing character, peace, and lifelong learning. His teachings, leadership, and compassion shaped WOMA into what it is today: an international federation committed to preserving traditional martial arts while fostering global friendship and cooperation.
On this day, we do not only celebrate fathers in the traditional sense—we also celebrate those who have fathered movements, mentored thousands, and inspired a legacy of unity. Papasan was all of these and more.
We invite all members, students, instructors, and affiliated organizations worldwide to reflect today on the contributions of Grand Master Jack Stern. Let us honor his memory by continuing to live and teach the values he cherished.
